{"id":128,"date":"2008-08-02T09:26:48","date_gmt":"2008-08-02T13:26:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jankrentz.com\/weblog\/?p=128"},"modified":"2008-11-17T10:32:08","modified_gmt":"2008-11-17T14:32:08","slug":"high-school-reunion-1-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jankrentz.com\/weblog\/?p=128","title":{"rendered":"High School Reunion &#8211; 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This weekend my husband and I flew to Omaha, Nebraska for both a family reunion with his side of the family, and my 35th high school reunion.<\/p>\n<p>Have you ever attended YOUR high school reunion? This is my 2nd time &#8211; previously, location, distance, and teaching committments have conflicted with the reunion schedule.<\/p>\n<p>People attend their reunions for different reasons &#8211; most hope to meet their friends from long ago and remember the good times together. Others come to impress their old classmates, to prove their current status and worth &#8211; thus settling old &#8220;scores&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The safety of bygone years allows classmates to confess old infatuations &#8211; and the recipient hearing the confession is both pleased and surprised at their long-ago ignorance of the potential romance!<\/p>\n<p>Our reunion focused upon 4 events &#8211; two evening gatherings, a golf outing, and a tour of our old alma-mater &#8211; <a title=\"Westside High School\" href=\"http:\/\/www.westside66.org\/westsidehs\/site\/default.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Westside High School<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jankrentz.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/img_0128.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" The original structure is still present, but the front entrance has been relocated to the east side of the building. The school is very high-tech inside! Each student is issued an Apple laptop for their use during the years at <a title=\"Westside - Wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Westside_High_School_(Omaha)\" target=\"_blank\">Westside<\/a>. The school boasts its own television broadcasting studio which students operate!<\/p>\n<p>The renovated athletic fields and Athletic Pavilion are beautiful &#8211; the pool, drained for summer maintenence, brought back\u00a0fond memories.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the remaining areas had been remodeled or upgraded to the point that we just wandered and marveled at the changes!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This weekend my husband and I flew to Omaha, Nebraska for both a family reunion with his side of the family, and my 35th high school reunion.
