Wedding Day

Lindsay and Ryan

Our daughter Lindsay and son-in-law Ryan O’Donahue were married today!  The ceremony was held in the Earl Miller Burns Japanese Garden on the campus of California State University, Long Beach under blue skies and beautiful weather, even though it is nearly the first day of winter!

Lindsay was elegant, beautiful, and poised walking with her proud father. The bridesmaids wore red gowns of various styles, and the men wore black tuxedos with red accents. (there are other wedding photos on the garden’s website – none of our wedding, but you’ll see what a lovely setting it is!)  The reception afterwards was held at the El Dorado Event Center in Long Beach (operate the scroll slider beneath the picture for more images).

Family and friends gathered with the new couple for dinner, dancing, toasts and all the traditional trimmings. I presented a slide show of photos from babyhood through engagement after dinner. What a memorable evening!

Christmas Eve

May your celebration be from the heart!

I love these two pieced Log Cabin Christmas tree quilts, both made by my dear friend Darlene Shubert in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. The pattern is the same – one is homey and comforting in red, tan and forest green. The other has more of a victorian flair with the sparkle of tissue lame and “found” bits of un-used jewelry, pins, and single earrings. Original pattern designer (if other than Darlene) is unknown.
