Spiral Broken Star - Empty Spools 5-day workshop

Spiral Broken Star - Empty Spools 5-day workshop

Hello, Empty Spools Asilomar Spiral Broken Star Student!

This is the first time I will teach this new design!

I am preparing a LOT of useful documents for you. Please get all of your equipment pulled together, and particularly your fabric and the printed materials here.

Please purchase a 3-ring notebook and some tabbed page dividers to keep the sections separated. Print the following pages, punch holes and place the pages in your notebook. You may use the 2-sided print option on your printer to keep paper to a minimum.

REMEMBER, any time you print a PDF file, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer. get it for free on the Adobe site:

http://get.adobe.com/reader/

When printing, be sure to check the printer's menu – deselect any options that say "shrink to fit page" or "fit to page" or "page scaling". Print at 100% for the pages to be full-size. Look at the print preview to see that the images and text fill the pages properly before printing.

PLEASE DOWNLOAD, PRINT AND SAVE THE FOLLOWING PDF documents:

  1. Jan's Spiral Broken Star Design Calculation pages.
  2. Jan's Spiral Broken Star Quilt Strip Calculations pages.
  3. Jan's standard Lone Star Design Calculations pages.
  4. Seam Calibration page.

Place all paperwork in your 3-ring notebook and bring it to class. Add any photos of inspiring Lone Star designs you may have collected.

OTHER QUILT DESIGN OPTIONS:  While many of you plan to sew a Spiral Broken Star quilt, other students may prefer to sew a design from my Lone Star Quilts book, or design your own special quilt.

Please spend some time looking at the other Lone Star design options in my online workshops list. Download the supply list from your preferred design in addition to the pages above.

I look forward to our Empty Spools workshop together at Asilomar Conference Grounds, in Pacific Grove, CA. If you have never been to this retreat, please pack comfortable clothing that you can wear layers for warm or cool weather, and comfie walking shoes.

If you have any questions, please e-mail me:  Jan Krentz.
